Last month as our prophetic team gathered in Singapore – preparing to depart for Indonesia on the evening of November 9 – we received an urgent word from the Lord to move up our departure date to November 6. In the natural, this change of plans was very inconvenient – but if we had not changed our plans as the Holy Spirit directed, we would have missed our entire reason for being in Indonesia.

Our plane departed Singapore for the island of Bali on the evening of November 6, arriving on Bali shortly after 1:00 AM on November 7. Exactly 50 hours later, we were awakened by a 6.8 earthquake which occurred a very short distance from us on the island of Sumbawa at 3:41 AM, November 9. The quake was strong enough to level several buildings killing 2 and injuring more than 50. The earthquake – which was occurred at a depth of 11 miles, sent an 11 inch tsunami to our island – at the same time, the price of gold reached $1,111 per ounce.

I find it very interesting that this 6.8 Sumbawa quake took place on the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989. In my lifetime, I have only been in Germany on one day – the day the Berlin Wall fell (our team was traveling from Sweden to Amsterdam, and would not find out until the following day in Holland that the Berlin Wall fell while we were passing through Germany). Pastor Richard Gazowsky from San Francisco – who was a part of our prophetic team in Bali – was also in Germany in 1989 when the Berlin Wall fell (although we did not know each other at the time). Look closely at the numbers and signs involving the November 9 Sumbawa quake, because they send a clear message.

In 1815 on the island of Sumbawa, Mount Tambora erupted – historically the largest volcanic eruption ever recorded (four times greater than the Krakatoa eruption in 1883). By some accounts, more than 88,000 people died in the Sumbawa event (compared to 36,000 people killed in the Krakatoa eruption and tsunami which followed in 1883). When looking back into the history of the region, it becomes obvious why this particular area needed intercession on November 9. If the quake (which was centered near Mt. Tambora) had been an 8.8 instead of 6.8, it could have triggered another super-volcanic eruption – and considering the increase of population near the coastlands since the last major event in 1815, the casualties would have likely rose into the millions. (April, 2015 will mark the 200th anniversary of the eruption of Mount Tambora in 1815).

Although the timing of the Sumbawa event was offset by prayer – possibly until 2015 or beyond – we are still receiving strong warnings that we need to keep the Pacific Ring of Fire covered in prayer between now and the end of January, and have prophetic teams standing by to travel into volatile areas that are seismically unstable. As great birth pangs continue to increase in size and frequency across the world, we need to be alert and respond properly to prophetic warnings, standing in the gap for those who are about to perish – rescuing them from disaster through prayer and sacrificial obedience.

Since returning from Indonesia I have been extremely busy in Japan, Hawaii and the Philippines. On the morning of Dec. 7, I departed Japan for Hawaii; shortly afterwards, 50 foot waves began hitting Oahu’s North Shore – the largest waves to hit Hawaii in decades, which peaked on December 9. The 50 foot waves represent 50 days, in which we need to remain in a stance of serious prayer and alertness (from now until the end of January). There are several other seismic/volcanic events which need to be offset during this period, or a Pacific-wide tsunami will be generated.

I will be returning to the United States at the end of December, and our prayer targets include California, Alaska and Florida. January is certainly not a convenient time to travel to Alaska, but if this corner of America is not covered in prayer, we’ve received warnings that the entire continental plate will be shaken like a carpet. The key to offsetting a major seismic event in California this January lies within Alaska.

My apologies that this month’s report is very brief, whereas I must catch a flight in the morning to a small island-nation located in an isolated area of the Pacific (my 70th nation to visit in 33 years of ministry).
